Our June 2017 Company-Wide Teacher of the Month is Ms. Erin Fowkes from our Gilbert, AZ location. Erin is a Teacher’s Aide spending most of her time in the infant room.

Erin’s supervisor, Kristin Seemann, had the following to say:

Erin has been with us for almost a year now, spending most of her time in the infant room, and the growth she has had within her position as a TA, is remarkable. While her title says she is a teacher’s aide, Erin is available in every capacity. She is always willing to step up and do luvnotes, execute lesson plans, have conversations with parents, or even create the most adorable art activities. She truly has a passion for her babies, the classroom, and the job itself.  Erin is always available with a smile, and a helping hand.  In her time in infants, she has gained the trust, and respect of the staff, as well as all of the families.  While we are sad that Erin will be leaving us for a semester, as she heads abroad, to share her love of education with children in the Dominican Republic, to teach them English, we are so proud of this amazing teacher. We truly could not be more proud to have her on our staff, and the way she is helping positively impact our children here at LSP Gilbert!   Thank you, Erin!”

Erin was a nanny before she came to work for Little Sunshine’s Playhouse. She has always loved kids and enjoyed being around them. She feels it all started when she was three years old and her mom had twin boys. “I fell in love with taking care of my brothers and have had a craving for babies ever since.”

When asked what she enjoys most about working for Little Sunshine’s Playhouse, Erin said she loves being able to work with the babies. “I love watching the children learn new things and teaching the kiddos about them.  I always feel welcome in every classroom I enter, and being around other people as passionate about children, as I am, is a plus!”

Erin’s favorite curriculum project that she has worked on was during the dinosaur unit. “The lead teacher and I froze dinosaurs in water balloons, so they were shaped like eggs.  We laid the babies on blankets on the floor, and the babies were able to spend time playing with the frozen eggs.  It was so fun watching them discover something new, and being able to play, at the same time!  Their smiles were priceless!”

Outside of work, Erin enjoys spending time with her family. They love being outdoors, spending time camping and being at the lake. “I love my crazy family!”

Something that people may not know about Erin is that she was in show choir for two years and spent six years singing in regular choir.
