“Hello! My name is Sarah, and I am the Director at Little Sunshine’s Playhouse in Franklin, Tennessee! My career with Little Sunshine’s began as an early preschool assistant teacher in 2014 when the University City location opened. I quickly fell in love with Little Sunshine’s and the wonderful family environment that was created. After spending a year and a half as both an assistant and lead with my wonderful two-year-olds, I was given the opportunity to become a Head Teacher overseeing, first the Infants and Toddlers and then shifting to the older Preschool unit. After over three years with LSP, I showed interest in moving to Franklin to help open another school and was offered the Assistant Director position, which I happily accepted!
I spent a year in that role building relationships with teachers and families and watching LSP Franklin flourish. I am so excited to continue my journey with Little Sunshine’s as the program director in Franklin! It is such an honor to serve our families and be a part of this community!”
“Hello, my name is Tessa, Co-Assistant Director at Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool in Franklin, TN. I started at Little Sunshine’s Playhouse in February of 2018 as a Lead Toddler Teacher, where I spent 10 months before being promoted to Head Teacher. Shortly after this promotion, I was thrilled to accept the Assistant Director position.
Growing up in New Zealand in a beautiful beach town with a wonderful family and community around me, I have always been drawn to and inspired by young children. From a very young age, I have known that I would always work with children, and my passion for early childhood education and families has been evident throughout my life. I went to University in New Zealand and received my CDA in early childhood education. After working in a handful of preschools and nannying in New Zealand, I then moved to the United States. When I discovered Little Sunshine’s Playhouse, my heart was filled, and I have been very honored to be a part of the team in Franklin, TN.
I truly believe that every child has the right to be heard, nurtured and loved, and I enjoy creating a nurturing environment here at LSP for all of the beautiful children while cultivating relationships within the community and among families. I look forward to meeting you and your family!”

“I cannot say enough good things about Little Sunshine’s in Franklin! Katherine, Sarah, and Eugene are the absolute best leadership team in the industry. Our children have had amazing teachers in all classrooms.
Elisabeth and Parisa in Ashdown have been so loving and caring toward our baby who has severe reflux with often more bad days than good. They always give extra snuggles when necessary!! I could not ask more of anyone there.
Amanda, lead teacher, helped me get our oldest on a sippy cup quickly after refusing for some time.
I can’t imagine anywhere better for our children to learn and grow!” – The Caputo Family
“We have been at Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool in Franklin since their opening last fall and our 14 month old is thriving. We couldn’t be happier with our decision to enroll. The curriculum is exceptional (Reggio Emilia inspired – cognitive, social, emotional. language and physical skills), the food/nutrition quality is the best we’ve seen in the area, and the entire staff loves on our daughter every day! Katherine, the Owner and Director, is so pleasant to work with and truly demonstrates a vested interest in every child that walks in the door. We can’t wait to see how our little girl flourishes over the next few years at LSP!” – The Higginbotham Family
Scott and Katherine Montgomery are so excited to bring Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool to the Franklin area! Their passion for Little Sunshine’s Playhouse (LSP) began when Katherine was hired as the Director to open the first LSP in the St. Louis area in 2014. Quickly realizing that there was nothing like LSP in the country, they were thrilled to have the opportunity to bring the “castle school” to one of their most favorite cities, Nashville.
Katherine has served children and families in a variety of capacities for over 20 years, and she finds great joy in being allowed the opportunity to work alongside teachers and families to see children actualize their fullest potential. Her academic degrees are in Social Work, with a focus on children and families. Specifically, she completed her BSW from Missouri State University and MSSW from The University of Texas (UT) at Austin, with a clinical concentration. More recently, she completed her PhD in Social Work at UT with a focus on evidence-based interventions for children in a school setting. Throughout her educational and professional experience, she was drawn to the undeniable fact that the first 5 years of a person’s life are among the most important in the lifespan.
Between Katherine’s experience and through watching their children, Sam and Sadie, flourish at LSP, the Montgomerys have grown to have a deep love and appreciation for quality early childhood education. Since they spend a lot of time in the Franklin area, they recognize that this family-friendly community aligns with the values and heartbeat of Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool. They are truly excited to bring this caliber of quality care to the Franklin community.
