THREES
The adventuresome three year old is a little more confident and curious about his/her surroundings. Our teachers stay one step ahead of their students in three year old class. Their days are well planned with more activities than they could possibly do. The strategy behind this is to keep things moving for the three year old and discipline problems will be almost obsolete. They will learn to write their name and recognize letters, numbers, colors, and shapes. Language skills begin to take shape when a child is three. It is the time to begin learning concepts like opposites, identify emotions, and basic directional skills (over/under etc.). At this time we also feel it is very important to work on self awareness. A child needs to learn how to play cooperatively with others and how to share the toys in the classroom. Our LSP teachers greet each child as they enter the room in order to make each child feel special, and to help with separation anxiety. We also want to foster independence by helping children master self help skills.
