A Note from the Director

"I would like to take this time to thank the parents for being so wonderful and for letting us be a part of their children's lives. We are blessed with having the opportunity to help shape the lives of many little ones every day."

Shelly Gardner, Director

"Hello, my name is Shelly Gardner. I am the Director at the LSP Springfield I location. I have been with LSP from the beginning in 2002. I first started out as an Assistant Teacher in the two year old room, but was quickly promoted to Lead Teacher. I enjoyed my time in the classroom. I loved planning curriculum and seeing the children learn and grow through the activities planned each day. My favorite part was the hugs I received throughout the day. I was promoted to Assistant Director within the year, which gave me the opportunity to work with all age groups. This, too, was a lot of fun because I had the chance to get to know all of the children and their families. In 2005, I received the title of "Director in Training," and I was given the opportunity to start learning more of the business side of running a preschool. At this time I was also attending college to receive my Early Childhood Associate's Degree. I officially became the Director in 2006. I have many tasks each day, a few of them include: organizing fundraisers and events, maintaining the files for staff and children, scheduling staff, making sure classrooms and playgrounds are safe for the children and enrolling children into the program. However, my favorite part of each day is greeting the parents and children in the morning and going room to room to talk with my staff and children throughout the day.

On a more personal level, I have been married to my wonderful husband for 17 years and we have an 11 year old boy named Hunter. In my spare time, I love to watch college football, movies with my husband and watch our son play football."

Deana Lumley, Asst. Director

"I have worked with LSP for five years, four being in the infant room and one as the Assistant Director. I have had several jobs throughout my life, but this has been my favorite! I love working with the children here and getting to know the families and the teachers. I love coming to work each day and knowing that I have been blessed with each person and child that I have come into contact with.

On a personal note, I have been blessed with two children, two step-sons and four grandchildren!!"
